    Album Review
    The Road to One Day
    Passion
    Star Song
From the July 2000 issue of CCM Magazine.

Passion’s third release, The Road to One Day, leads its listeners to a place of refuge. Unlike its previous two live recordings, Live Worship From the 268 Generation and Better Is One Day, this is Passion’s first studio project. The result is a slightly tighter mix that captures the sobriety of its intended message without losing the spontaneous live feel that is sometimes sacrificed in studio recordings.

In listening to the 12-plus cuts, there was a refreshing absence of self-focused material. The result is a serious (not to be confused with ponderous) acknowledgment of one’s overwhelming need for mercy and grace from a loving, yet holy God.

Standouts include such Passion standards as "Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble" (Matt Redman) and "Shout to the North" (Charlie Hall). Watermark’s Christy Nockels invokes a passionate call for prayer in "Holy Roar," while Chris Tomlin ("The Noise We Make") introduces us to a rocker amplifying the worldwide gathering of believers at the throne of God. Surprises come from John Catchings’ "Prelude" string arrangement, various spoken confessionals over several music introductions and the bonus cut, "Sing Like the Saved," led by Steve Fee.
